Oil paint on “kwi” gourd (13” h. x 10 3/4” w. x 5” d.). Completed January 17, 2004.
Provenance: Collection of Nancy Josephson. Nancy watched André Pierre paint this “kwi” and purchased it from him in 2004. She believes it was probably the last of these gourd paintings that he made. He passed away the following year. The crack on the left side occurred as the gourd dried. Although Andre Pierre painted these paintings of the Vodou “loa” deities throughout his career., they are now comparatively rare.
